WHY WE STARTED

At Within U, we recognized a critical gap in STEM education, particularly in the fields of Cybersecurity and Network technologies. As technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, the demand for skilled professionals in these areas has grown exponentially. However, many individuals, especially those from underserved communities, face significant barriers to accessing the education and training needed to pursue careers in these high-demand fields.

​Our founder saw this disparity firsthand and was driven by a shared passion for education and technology. He understood that providing equal access to quality STEM education could transform lives, open doors to new opportunities, and build a more inclusive and diverse workforce. With this vision in mind, Within U was established.

He started Within U because he believes that everyone should have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today’s digital world. Our goal is to empower individuals by offering specialized training in Cybersecurity and Network technologies, equipping them with the tools to build successful careers and contribute positively to their communities.

By focusing on underserved communities, we aim to break down the barriers that prevent many from accessing high-quality STEM education. MEET OUR FOUNDER

DAMON POLARD

Damon Pollard is the visionary founder of Within U, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing STEM education with a focus on cybersecurity and network technologies. With a strong educational background, Damon holds an undergraduate degree in Network and Communication Management (2015) and a graduate degree in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity/Network Defense (2020). 

Before founding Within U, Damon garnered extensive experience in the IT field, progressing through various roles from Help Desk Specialist to Network Administrator and Network Security Engineer. His professional journey has equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and skills, positioning him as a leader in the field. 

Damon’s inspiration to establish Within U stemmed from personal challenges and triumphs. In 2010, after a life-threatening emergency surgery, Damon realized the importance of purpose in life. Born with ADKPD, a kidney disease, he faced significant health battles, including being placed on the organ transplant waitlist in 2018. On March 16, 2020, Damon received a life-saving kidney donation, an experience that further fueled his determination to make a meaningful impact. 

Throughout his career, Damon has achieved numerous industry-recognized certifications, including Cisco CCNA, Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate, Cisco CCNP Security, CompTIA CASP+, EC-Council CEH, and ISC(2) CISSP, among others. His dedication to continuous learning and excellence underscores his commitment to empowering others through education.
