SAFe® for Teams Certification Course

The SAFe® for Teams course is designed to equip Agile team members with the knowledge and skills necessary to work within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) environment. In this course, participants will learn how to collaborate within an Agile Release Train (ART), execute iterations, and deliver value using Lean-Agile principles. Through a combination of theory and hands-on exercises, this course helps team members understand how their work contributes to the overall success of the organization in a scaled Agile setup. 

Participants will explore key aspects of SAFe® such as team-level roles, collaboration across multiple teams, and how to implement SAFe® practices within Agile teams to ensure smooth delivery during Program Increments (PIs). They will also learn how to execute key SAFe® events such as Sprint Planning, Iteration Review, and the Inspect and Adapt workshops.

Expected Outcome of the Course

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the SAFe® framework and how Agile teams contribute to delivering value within an ART 
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives 
  • Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize work 
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage backlogs and use tools such as User Stories and Acceptance Criteria to ensure successful delivery 
  • Contribute to Program Increment (PI) Planning, ensuring alignment with ART objectives and organizational goals 
  • Adopt Lean-Agile practices to improve the quality and speed of delivery within the team 
  • Apply DevOps principles and practices for faster, more reliable delivery of product features 
Target Candidate

The SAFe® for Teams course is ideal for Agile team members and anyone who works as part of a team within a SAFe® framework. This includes: 

  • Agile Team Members: Developers, testers, and other team members who are part of an Agile Release Train 
  • Scrum Masters: Those responsible for facilitating Agile teams and ensuring that SAFe® practices are followed 
  • Product Owners: Individuals responsible for managing backlogs and ensuring that user stories are well-defined and prioritized 
  • Agile Coaches: Coaches who help teams and organizations adopt and improve Agile practices 
  • Team Leads: Leaders who guide Agile teams in adopting and working within the SAFe® framework 
  • Program Managers: Those responsible for managing programs in an enterprise using SAFe® practices 

Recommended Prerequisites

While there are no formal prerequisites for the course, it is recommended that participants have: 

  • A basic understanding of Agile principles and Scrum practices 
  • Experience working in an Agile environment or as part of an Agile team 
  • Familiarity with SAFe® concepts (though prior knowledge of SAFe® can be helpful, it’s not mandatory) 

For those new to SAFe®, completing an introductory course such as SAFe® Agilist may provide additional foundational knowledge but is not required. 

Certification Preparedness

This course prepares participants for the SAFe® for Teams (SCT) certification exam. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be eligible to take the exam to become a certified SAFe® Practitioner (SCT). The certification exam tests your understanding of team-level roles and responsibilities, as well as your ability to contribute to successful delivery within a SAFe® environment. 

Potential Job Roles

After completing this course and passing the certification exam, participants will be well-prepared for roles such as: 

  • Agile Team Member: Work within a Scrum team or other Agile teams within a SAFe® environment 
  • Scrum Master: Facilitate team-level Agile events, guide the team, and ensure Agile best practices are followed 
  • Product Owner: Manage the product backlog, write user stories, and prioritize work in alignment with team and ART goals 
  • SAFe® Practitioner: Contribute to Agile delivery, assist with Program Increment (PI) planning, and apply SAFe® principles at the team level
